Launched in 2011 in the Northern French Alps town of Annecy-le-Vieux in, the Tecnica-MaXi-Race has become, in just four editions, one of the major events on the trail running calendar. By offering several race formats, the Tecnica-MaXi-Race has, from the outset, always sought to encourage trail running enthusiasts of all levels to participate, allowing everyone to share in the sport’s festive atmosphere over the course of a weekend.
Today this represents 7 successful race formats that, following the lead of today’s most popular races and bolstered by the 2015 IAU Trail World Championships, filled up in no time. In addition to the athletic competition, the four festive days around the lake will include entertainment, exciting moments, and overwhelming enthusiasm.
2015 IAU TRAIL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Opening ceremony, Thursday, May 28, 19:00 – “Géants des Pays de Savoie” (Savoie Giants)
To celebrate the 5th IAU Trail World Championships, the opening ceremony promises to be spectacular. For an entire hour, a show with 200 actors, and a dozen world-class paragliding, high jumping, and trail running champions, will celebrate, along the lake, this international gathering of the worldwide athletics and trail running family.
In the middle of the show, on a path from Jardins de l’Europe park t the Pâquier via the lake’s shoreline, the 39 national delegations will parade in front of thousands of spectators.
High jumpers Jérôme Clavier (5m 80) and Maria Ribeiro (3rd in the most recent European Indoor Championships) will also reach for the summits.
Flying even higher, Annecy, a premier and popular location for paragliding, will put on an air show with some of the world’s best paragliding pilots, like Annecy native Jeremy Bailly, 5th in the 2015 solo world rankings, or Tim Alongi, 1st in World Cup Synchro.
The 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade’s military band, the “Lou Philosphes” orchestra, and several other artists will join the festivities, as will trail running legend Maud Gobert, ambassador for these 2015 IAU Trail World Championships and World Trail Running Champion in 2011.
