The 2017 Trail World Championships take place on the 10th of June in Italy in the Foreste Casentinesi national park, between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. With a total surface area of approximately 368 squared kilometres, the park offers a very dense forest, one of the oldest in Europe.
The Trail World Championships are co-organised with the IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) and the ITRA (International Trail Running Association). Locally, this competition is co-organised by the Trail Sacred Forest race organisation and the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL).
The race course:
- Distance: 48,7 km
- Positive elevation: 2990 m
- Negative elevation: 2990 m
Course’s characteristics:
- Endurance difficulty: 3 new ITRA points
- Mountain level: 7
- Finisher criteria: 520 (corresponding to a cut-off barrier of 8h)
Participation conditions: the 2017 Trail World Championships in Badia Prataglia are open to runners selected by their federation or national association member of IAU. The latter will start the race at 8:00 am. Each country has its own selection modalities, they are available on ITRA website (itra.run) for the French, Icelandic and Swedish delegations.
