THE UNMISSABLE ICE EVENT
The Ice Climbing Ecrins Festival is coming back with a new show! Let’s meet from 12th to 15th of January 2017 to celebrate mountaineering with all those who love to escape in wonderful landscapes and unbelievable nature.
DURING TREE DAYS…Several types of workshops for all, beginners and performers, supervised by 40 mountain guides: ice climbing, dry tooling*, ski touring, freeriding and snowshoeing. This will be the best place to have a 360° to the mountain world and activities.
EACH EVENING…All participants gather for entertainments and shows! Movies, music shows, but also a debate on the evolution of mountain practices, with prestigious guests such as alpinists Ueli Steck, Lionel Daudet or the so called GFHM (high mountain women’s group)…
GLOBAL CONCEPT…During three days, the Ice Climbing Festival proposes for each workshop to learn about: safe behaviors in High Mountain, avalanche victim research, study of snow, Alpine climbing preparation… Mountain security training also allows to learn about this specific area, about ice climbing techniques but also to borrow and test gear from main outdoor sports brands.
DRY TOOLING SESSION…Above all, the Ice Climbing Ecrins is a dry-tooling* International Open, gathering the best ice climbers of the world. The ICE proposes two kinds of final which will be held indoor: speed and difficulty. An incredible show in a very warm atmosphere!
* Dry-tooling involves climbing rock with ice axes and crampons. It has its origins in mixed climbing, ice climbing and more recently sport climbing.
