Environmental protection starts with small steps – every child today knows this. The outdoors offers the best setting for learning, experiencing and discovering. Kids who are active outdoors will protect and appreciate the outdoors as adults, which is why the outdoor outfitter VAUDE uses bluesign® certified materials that have been tested for harmful substances for its children’s backpacks.
In addition to high quality, functionality, attractive designs and fair prices, sustainable manufacturing is becoming important to more and more consumers. Where was the product made, under which conditions was it made and what substances and component materials does it include? Can I buy it with clear conscience? Discerning consumers today want to know the answers to these questions. Especially for children’s products, materials that have been examined for harmful substances and clean production are crucial aspects for parents’ purchasing decisions. As a family-run company, VAUDE pays close attention to this and ensures strict quality and chemical management in the supply chain.
In addition to their children’s apparel, VAUDE’s children’s backpacks are also made from environmentally friendly materials, monitored in accordance with the bluesign® system – the strictest environmental and consumer standard for textile products. Starting in Summer 2017, these popular children’s models will be manufactured as “bluesign products”, which offers reliable guidelines for environmentally conscious consumers. The product range includes Ayla and Minnie as companions for kindergarten or everyday life, as well as the somewhat larger hiking backpack Pecki. Like his older brother – the popular model Puck – this pack is outfitted with a magnifying glass, seat mat and rain cover. In addition, the range includes small wash bags, the sport bag Snippy and the travel trolley Gonzo.
Durable materials and child-friendly details
These children’s backpacks are manufactured with the same care used for VAUDE’s Alpine backpacks and are made from durable polyester. Child-friendly details such as kid-friendly buckles and zips and sensible compartments are a joy for small outdoor fans. A name label inside prevents mistakes from being made at the kindergarten. Generous elements with 3M-reflectors contribute to more safety in traffic. Of course, kids need to like the design and color choices as well. Apart from the classic colorful variants in bold red, blue and green, these kids’ backpacks also come in two patterned versions with a whimsical frog motif in rosé and turquoise.
Flori – my small green outdoor friend
The small waist pack for kids with the name Flori is truly playful and mega practical. This green waist pack with a merry frog face can be attached to all VAUDE children’s backpacks as a hipbelt. Small discoverers can stow the treasures they’ve found along the way in the practical zip compartment. Whether stones, seeds, snail shells, sweets for underway or a pocketknife – Flori can easily pack away anything its broad frogmouth gets to eat. Good thing that Flori is environmentally friendly and features fair production with the Green Shape guarantee. This friendly frog is green – not just on the outside, but on the inside as well.
Tried and tested in the VAUDE childcare center
VAUDE children’s gear has to be able to take some rough handling. After all, the in-house chilcare center at the company headquarters in Tettnang also serves as a testing field for the next outdoor generation. And during their weekly forest day, the gear really has to take some abuse. Only when the materials pass the examinations in the test laboratory and in the field, can they survive the daily grind at kindergarten and on the playground.
bluesign® system
The bluesign® system is the worldwide strictest environmental standard for textile products. Like an ecological purity law – only materials are certified, which stress neither humans nor the environment. A goal is the best for humans and nature!
