#SummitSeries FW16 sees new Fuseform™ Alpine Pack and addition of GORE-TEX® to outer shell.
The evolution of The North Face’s Summit Series™ range continues in FW16 with the next development since it’s relaunch in 2015 of the world’s finest alpine equipment. A new, athlete refined fit has been applied to the range, alongside an additional roisin green/climbing ivy combo colourway for men and darkest spruce/conifer teal in womens, and the addition of GORE-TEX® to the L5 Jacket and L5 Shell Pant.
Also new for the 2016 range is the addition of the Summit Series™ Alpine 50L, a lightweight, durable backpack, made for high-alpine athlete expeditions. Featuring a Fuseform™ construction and Cordura® nylon, key features include a top lid that doubles as a rope carry system, a removable waist belt and frame sheet, and a reinforced cover for ice-axe tips.
On top of the Alpine 50L, the remainder of the range continues to lead the way in alpinist technology and innovation, resulting in the ultimate in expedition gear. The six-layer collection is comprised of layers L1 through L6, named as an indicator to the layer each piece should be as it is being worn, including:
The Summit L1 Top and L1 Pant are the base layering essentials made from Thermolite® fabric to provide zonal warmth and moisture management, as well as articulated construction with minimal seams for mobility.
The Summit L2 Jacket is a midlayer made with extremely durable FuseForm™ Polartec® Hardface fleece, striking the ultimate balance between protection and comfort. An engineered-knit centre back and underarms also vastly improves temperature control. Lastly black reflective tape is used to increase visibility.
An ultra light down mid-layer, the Summit L3 Jacket is insulated with 800-fill RDS down, utilizing FuseForm™ construction for targeted durability with minimal seams.
Our warmest ever synthetic mid-layer, being 15% warmer then our other ThermoBall™ jackets, the Summit L4 Jacket is insulated with ThermoBall™, a synthetic, proprietary The North Face insulation that retains warmth when wet. Specifically designed for vertical movement, stretch panneling and lightweight yet durable mini-ripstop facric is used.
The Summit L5 Jacket and L5 Shell Pant are the most advanced shell outerwear The North Face has ever built: it delivers targeted durability and superior protection with localized FuseForm™ construction alongside an all new inclusion of a highly breathable, waterproof GORE-TEX® 3L membrane.
The final layer of the line is the Summit L6 Jacket, an 800-fill RDS down belay jacket that uses welded, Z-baffle construction for increased warmth and weather-resistance, and FuseForm™ construction for targeted durability.
Both the L5 and L6 jackets also contain an emergency reflective flag, which can be used to attract attention. Made from excess material in the manufacturing process, it contains a large reflective Summit Series logo.
