Every year in sub-Saharan Africa, 265,000 women die in childbirth, and 1.2 million children die during their first month of life. One in three children under five years of age is undernourished. One in three pregnant women is undernourished as well. This puts them at particular risk of diseases.
The objective of the First 1,000 Days for Mothers and Children program (2017–2021) promoted by Doctors with Africa Cuamm is to provide nutritional interventions to support mothers and children in their first 1,000 days, from the beginning of pregnancy through the first two years of the child’s life.
Mothers and children are a heritage to protect. Such a joyful event as birth should never be overshadowed by death and suffering. This is why on the 9 and 10 May, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Zamberlan will donate 15% of the revenues of our online shop to Doctors with Africa Cuamm.
