The new CAMP Matik, officially presented at the Outdoor Fair in Friedrichshafen last July, is now available in the best mountaineering and outdoor shops. It is the result of years of research and development, and was subject to field tests all over the world by our technicians and athletes. The Matik is a revolutionary belay device and descender with assisted braking for sport climbing: this is the latest product, which had been eagerly awaited by insiders and enthusiasts.

The Matik received great attention in Friedrichshafen and, more recently, at the ISPO Fair in Munich, becoming a must in forums and on social networks as well, where people talked about it at large. CAMP proudly presents a product which is the result of passion, hard work and the willingness to stay ahead of time for a historic company, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2014, and which keeps on looking ahead.
The public will be able to get to know the Matik thanks to an international advertising campaign, a company video edited in 5 languages and numerous test events organised together with outdoor stores.

TECHNICAL FEATURES: The assisted braking action of the Matik derives from its camming design that makes the device safer and easier on the climber, the belayer, the anchor and the rope. Instead of using a blunt angle to pinch the rope when the cam is engaged, the Matik is built so the cam rotates in and comes in line alongside rope before it captures the rope completely. This alignment allows a large contact area
between the cam and the rope, and he slight amount of slippage that occurs as the cam rotates into place reduce the impact force of a fall.
When lowering, the proprietary Anti-Panic system prevents to lose control of the descent. The brake lever will automatically disengage causing the cam to automatically reengage if it is opened too quickly or if it is kept too far open where the speed of the descent can become unmanageable. This unique safety feature is particularly useful where there is little friction from rope drag between the belayer and the climber or during topdown descents where the Matik really delivers an unparalleled sense of safety and control.

Users will also notice that the Matik creates a natural path for the rope that does not require looping or twisting of the rope during descent.
Combined with the dynamic camming action that limits the impact of the fall, this more natural rope path helps to reduce wear and tear on the rope. Other distinguishing features of the Matik include a better method for inserting the rope that eliminates the possibility of clipping a carabiner to the device until it is completely closed.
Manufactured in hot-forged aluminium and steel precision cast weighing 275 gr, the Matik is a technology masterpiece designed for ropes from 8.6 to 10.2 mm.
