La Sportiva, manufacturer of the best climbing shoes in the world, today announces that world champion climber Sasha DiGiulian has joined its athlete roster. Citing attention to detail and performance that will enable her to push her climbing even further, DiGiulian will now exclusively wear La Sportiva climbing shoes.
“Sasha’s climbing accomplishments speak for themselves as she has climbed some of the hardest test pieces around the world in addition to being a skilled competition climber,” said Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “By adding La Sportiva climbing shoes to her kit, she will be able to pursue ever bigger objectives. We can’t wait to see what she pulls off.”
DiGiulian is a three-time US National Champion, won the World Championships for female overall, placed second in the Bouldering World Championships, and has been the undefeated panAmerican Champion since 2004. Outdoors, Sasha was the first North American woman, and third woman globally, to climb the grade 9a (5.14d). Additionally, she has onsighted multiple 8b+ (5.14a) routes, ascended groundbreaking multipitch routes of up to 1000 feet of 8c climbing, and has established multiple first ascents and 28 first female ascents around the world. In 2017, Sasha plans to focus both on traveling the globe in search of new test piece routes outdoors, and training and competing at the highest levels of climbing.
According to Sasha, “climbing is my passion. As an athlete, I constantly push myself to progress, to discover what I am capable of. Climbing at an elite level is progression by inches, it’s years of training for a next level send. In my quest for progression I know that I need the very best equipment and technology on the market, anything to get an edge. Footwork in climbing is just as important as finger strength and being a conditioned athlete. When I’m climbing in La Sportiva shoes I feel unparalleled confidence. The level of precision in the toe box, the glove-like fit to my foot, and the immaculate attention to detail in the overall build gives me the edge I need to climb at my full potential.”
She continues, “on a personal level, my family is from a little town in Northern Italy called Arba. Joining the Italian family-owned brand that is La Sportiva feels like coming home. I am thrilled to be a part of the brand and to define new levels of achievement while wearing these rock shoes. Working with La Sportiva is a new milestone in my climbing and my career and together we are looking forward to what the future holds!”
