Thanks to the generosity of its members, the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) raised nearly €24,000 during its recent online fundraiser, held over Earth Day 2022.  As well as raising funds, a number of members also called on people to get involved in protecting their local environments.

Earth Day has been celebrated annually on 22 April since 1970, to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The theme for this year’s Earth Day was ‘Invest in Our Planet’.  Through EOCA, participating companies and outdoor enthusiasts purchasing gear they need for their next adventure, did just that by enabling EOCA to support and invest in a range of conservation projects around the world.

Black Diamond, Cumulus, KEEN, Lesovik, Schöffel, Smartwool, Stanley and Vaude, all generously donated a percentage of their online sales to EOCA during the fundraiser.  Original Buff, S.A. donated items to be sold via Outdoor Gear For Good, a community interest (not-for-profit) company, with profits being sent to EOCA. Finally, Leadership and Sustainability made a generous donation to EOCA to mark Earth Day.  In total, €23,948 was raised to benefit EOCA and its supported projects.

Grzegorz Ozimiński, sales and marketing specialist at Cumulus said ‘Earth Day is a special day marked in our company calendar in red!  Every year we try to participate in this day and do something good for our planet. In 2022 we decided to work with EOCA, who are our long-standing partner that helps our planet to be green and healthy again. To raise funds, we decided to donate 10% of Cumulus sales to EOCA over the Earth Day weekend. We were delighted with the reaction, and once again it made us sure that we have the best customers in the world, with an impressive level of environmental awareness.  Our sale was almost twice that of a regular weekend and we were able to make a significant donation to the EOCA Earth Day campaign total. This is great news, which motivates us to do even more next year. ‘

Catherine Savidge, Joint General Manager of EOCA said, “The generosity of EOCA members has enabled a significant amount of money to be raised during Earth Day 2022. By working together, EOCA, its members and outdoor enthusiasts can deliver real impact, supporting important conservation work in vital habitats around the world.”
