This year’s European Outdoor Summit (EOS) which takes place 13th-15th October 2015, in Sheffield, UK, is already shaping up to be an unmissable event with an impressive line-up of motivational speakers, engaging break-out sessions, panels and workshops already announced.
The organisers are now delighted to announce former UK Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Sheffield Hallam, Nick Clegg, who will address delegates at the Summit. Nick will present the closing speech on Thursday 15th.
Leader of the UK political party, the Liberal Democrats, from 2007-2015, Nick took the party into government following the 2010 election, as part of the first Coalition in the UK since the Second World War; during his term he was accredited with putting many Liberal Democrat policies into practice.
Nick’s pan-European background makes him the ideal candidate to address an international summit such as EOS which attracts a global audience. With Dutch and Russian roots, which influenced his international outlook, Nick speaks French, German, Spanish and Dutch and has lived and worked in New York, Budapest and Brussels, where he worked for five years for the European Commission.
In 1999 Nick was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and co-founded the Campaign for Parliamentary Reform, which led calls for reforms to expenses, transparency and accountability in the European Parliament. Nick also lectured part-time at Sheffield and Cambridge Universities before being elected as Member of Parliament for Sheffield Hallam in 2005.
Nick joins a bill of speakers including Pentland Brand Chairman, Andy Rubin, National Lead for Adults health and Wellbeing in Public Health England’s Health and Wellbeing team, Dr Justin Varney, Director of Performance from The Centre for Health & Human Performance, Professor Greg Whyte and President and CEO of Camelbak, Sally McCoy. With such high calibre speakers secured, EOS 2015 promises to be an exciting and informative event and the perfect opportunity for delegates to learn more about how to better their businesses and network with industry colleagues and 190 delegates have already signed up.
