The International Mountain Summit searched for breathtaking and emotional photos for IMS Photocontest 2016. Over 2,600 photos from more than 100 countries have been sent in. The winners got awarded at the mountain festival IMS.
The decision of finding the best photos was really difficult because all photos have been great. The jury chose those photos which show special and emotional moments. All photos chosen by the jury showed the mountain in its special way. Altogether it was 10,600 Euro of prize money.
The IMS-Photocontest is part of the most important mountain photo contests of the world. For the first time the 4 categories “Mountain Nature”, “Mountain Aerial”, “Mountain Action” and “Mountain Faces” have been awarded.
On 3rd place of category “Mountain Nature” was Tobias Ryser from Switzerland with the photo “Nebelwelle”. 2nd place went to Arne Link from Germany with the photography in black and white “Lost in ICE”.
The winner of the category comes from Italy. Giuseppe Mario Famiani took a photo of the volcanic eruption on Ätna. He won the KIKU Photo Award 2016.
In category „Aerial Photo“, supported by DJI, the most impressing aerial photos have been awarded. On 3rd place was Roberto Moiola who took a picture of mountain Geisler in South Tyrol.
Jona Salcher, the winner of the Photocontest 2015 won the 2nd place with the photo “infinity” this year. First place goes to Hansa Tangmanpoowadol from Thailand with the picture of the colorful wood. He sent a video presentation which has been shown to all visitors of the IMS.
The 3rd category “Mountain Action”, supported by Brixen/Plose contained action photos. On 3rd place was Pawel Franik with the black and white photo taken at Mount Graham in USA.
The Austrian photographer Markus Berger won the 2nd place of the category with “Ice Climbing”. First place went to Abedin Mohammadi with the photo “climbing”.
Now to the last category „Mountain Faces“ which has been supported by the manufacturer of shoes AKU. The focus laid on mountain people and mountain stories. Adnan Bubalo took a picture of his friend Ivan on Matterhorn and therefore he got the 2rd place. Gerhard Heidorn from Germany won the 2nd place with the photo of the farmer and the cows.
The photographer from Hungaria Gàbor Garamvàri won the 1st place with the photo of a shepherd on the Marmolata.
