Karpos presents “Sicilia” by Manrico Dell’Agnola

Published by Mountainblog on .

Sometimes my work takes me to places that I otherwise wouldn’t see, and I almost always discover fantastic worlds, even if they distract me from my priorities – the rocks for climbing. This time it’s the volcanoes of Sicily, using a means of transportation that I’m not very familiar with, the bike. So I find myself with my friend Elena Spalenza on board the heavily laden Karposmobile heading toward one of the most beautiful islands in the world.Rich in history and with a spectacular coastline and fascinating hinterlands, Sicily is also an international point of interest for volcanologists and has its own unique characteristics. Ten or so days surrounded by sulfur and fumaroles, scorching heat and drenching summer storms, pedals and bike chains, introduced me to a world – both natural and human – that has enriched my experience.

Activity: Climbing and descending by downhill bike on Stromboli (twice) and Mount Etna: Elena Spalenza and Marco Tomasello. Film: manricodellagnola.it. Photos: Patrik Comiotto. Climbing the cliffs of Taormina.
