KELLY SILDARU

Faction athlete Kelly Sildaru makes history, retaining her title as youngest ever X Games champion with Gold in Slopestyle, and Silver in Big Air in Aspen, Colorado.

Kelly Sildaru continues her winning spree proving again that she is the most progressive and exceptional competitor in women’s freeskiing. With a technical rail section, good variety on the jumps, and a clean switch 10 to finish, Kelly took herself to the top of the podium in Slopestyle, whilst both ways switch 10s put her solidly in second place for Big Air.

Kelly Sildaru is the first athlete under 15 years old to hold two X Games gold medals, and the only woman in the competition to take home two medals.

Following a second-year win at Dew Tour in December, Kelly has dominated the international freeskiing circuit and the future is looking bright in the lead up to the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic games. Growing up in Estonia, Kelly started skiing aged two. A winning combination of drive, unique talent and a true love for skiing, Kelly has risen through the ranks, and established herself as the best women’s freestyle skier of the moment.

Faction athlete Giulia Tanno also made an impact on her X Games debut, putting down the first ever switch 1260 in a women’s comp, to take Bronze in the Big Air, as well as a solid Slopestyle run that saw her finish just shy of the podium in fourth place.

This has been a strong week for Faction athletes, as Sarah Hoefflin (CH) and Caroline Claire (US), both part of Faction grassroots athlete program, also finished respectively in 1st and 3rd place at the FIS World Cup slopestyle event in Seiser Alm, Italy. Both are securing some important points towards the 2018 Olympic qualifications, and proving Faction’s domination in women’s freestyle skiing.
