After the cancellation of the 4th edition, the sport tour of the most prestigious Alpine and Pyrenean skimountaineering races is ready to restart with many interesting innovations. This season “La Grande Course” will be composed of Pierra Menta, Adamello Ski Raid and Mezzalama Trophy.
The first great change concerns the executive board with the new president Grégoire Jirillo, who succeeded to Adriano Favre. “After ten years we decided for a rotation in the name of continuity – confirmed Jirillo who has always been a member of LGC executive board and moreover is an active component of Patrouille des Glaciers organizing committee – . I feel very honoured to hold this important position and I am consciuous that it will not be an easy job. Luckily, I will be supported by the former president and by a great and well experienced staff. All together we will work to enhance the development of this skimountaineering tour which represents great tradition, prestige and innovation”.
The new president continued by explaining some important details: “La Grande Course embodies skimountaineering values and marks the guidelines of this movement. I would like to carry on this way in order to attract more and more people to this spectacular sport. Starting from this season we will award the first world title ISMF-LGC Long Distance for teams. This is not the only innovation! We are very glad to announce a great partnership with many different competitions. Through the enrolment with La Grande Course these races will not only enlarge their importance but also help the athletes in increasing their skimountaineering skills by giving them the technical knowledge to participate to the “great classic” competitions . They even grant to the finishers a kind of “wild card” to be used to have direct access to the entries”.
On the official website, starting from today, it will be possible to buy the card for La Grande Course competitions of the next two-year period. Please note the following dates for the current season:
– 10-14th March Pierra Menta;
– 10th April Adamello Ski Raid; – 24th April Mezzalama Trophy.
