This year 2013 is a special one for La Sportiva, the company from Trentino at the foothills of the Dolomites, which has been specialising in mountaineering footwear since 1928. During the OutDoor di Friedrichshafen (Germany), the brand will present its range of innovations in the technical mountaineering footwear section and complementary products from its clothing apparel collection.
With its entry into the field of technical clothing, La Sportiva has made a very precise statement: the desire to meet the needs of all those who live and work in the mountains, from footwear to clothing and accessories. In a word: MOUNTAINWARE. This concept sums up the whole La Sportiva collection which comprises both Footwear and Apparel, and which links the two core features of the company’s products: “FAST” (inspired by the fast-moving mountaineers) and “UP” (drawing inspiration form the vertical world and the company’s own history of producing mountaineering and climbing products).
FAST IN THE MOUNTAINS
The Mountainware “FAST” collection is made up of eight models dedicated to the world of Mountain Running and three important innovations dedicated to road running. Bushido, a technical skyrunning shoe for mid-long distances uses the new conception construction method STB Control and represents the most exclusive model in the collection. Savage GTX is a waterproof model ideal for fast hiking, with Gore-Tex lining. Wild Cat 3.0 is the third update of one of the best sellers in the collection.
The concept “fast” follows along the lines of the clothing collection dedicated to mountain enthusiasts who move quickly in the mountains, either running or from dynamic and fast hiking. Mountain Hiking includes a new range of trousers – Cirrus Tight, Naos and Titan Pants (man) and Crux Capri, Vega and Atlas pants (women) – designed to provide maximum comfort during fast excursions.
UP IN THE MOUNTAINS
The Mountainware collection “UP” is La Sportiva’s expression of verticality: climbing shoes, technical mountaineering boots, approach shoes and now a new clothing line for climbers which pays homage to the company’s heritage thanks to the colours, graphics and technical solutions. Alongside the technical trousers made with CORDURA® textile, a range of t-shirts and sweatshirts will appeal to those who like to show their passion for climbing in everyday life. The range is designed with strong La Sportiva branding and offers made for climbers solutions such as side stretch bands and organic cotton details. It has been perfected thanks to dialogue with some of the more demanding users such as brand ambassadors like Pietro Dal Pra, Silvio Reffo, Nalle Hukkataival, Anthony Gullsten.
The vertical news do not end here. In the climbing sector, La Sportiva is launching three new models (HydroGym, OxyGym and NitroGym). They are all completely washable thanks to the use of Washtex 3-layer fabric. This makes them ideal for use as rental models in gyms and for use on long outdoor routes, with comfort and hygiene as top priority.
Last but not least, the new state-of-the-art mountaineering boots – Nepal Cube GTX and Trango Cube GTX – set new standards in lightweight and waterproof properties for this sector. Trango Cube in particular has been made using the new and exclusive Thermo Tech Injection method, a thermoplastic coating that eliminates traditional stitching, making the boot even more water resistant than ever before. Whether footwear or clothing, the company approach has been unaltered since 1928: innovation and passion for products for mountain lovers. La Sportiva Mountainware: for your mountain.
