With just one week to go until the outdoor industry’s networking event of the year kicks off in Barcelona, it’s time to do a quick check list to make sure you have everything in place ready for a great European Outdoor Summit 2016!
MAKING YOUR SUMMIT CHOICES:
After booking your EOS 2016 place, you will have received a link to a survey which asks you to pick your choices for the whole event. This includes, break-out session participation, activities and evening social attendance. If you haven’t already done so then please make your choices as soon as possible as this is very important to ensuring you can make the most of everything the Summit has to offer. BREAK-OUT SESSIONS CHOSEN?
In addition to the keynotes speeches from the likes of the European Commission’s Deputy Director-General for Education and Culture, Jens Nymand Christensen and Patagonia’s Vice President of Public Engagement, Rick Ridgeway, delegates can pick a break-out session each day on a whole host of interesting and relevant topics being delivered by some of the industry’s top experts.

SIGNED UP FOR THE NETWORKING EVENING?
Taking place on Thursday evening, we invite delegates to join us for tapas and beer at Fabrica Moritz, the largest microbrewery in Europe located in the very heart of Barcelona. Responding to past delegates’ requests for more time to network, we have chosen to host an informal evening in a relaxed environment at a venue simply overflowing with character, charm, atmosphere, great tapas and of course, great beer!
EOG EVENTS APP DOWNLOADED?
Due to requests for more opportunity to meet other delegates, the new EOG Events APP in association with Myagi, is a networking application that allows you to:
- Find out about the people and companies who will be attending and who you should meet
- Network with others, send messages and even set up face-to-face meetings (restricted to 50 messages per person)
- Get up-to-date agenda details
- Access the latest buzz and updates about the event
You should have received an email to download the APP. Please support this new addition to the Summit, which gives you the opportunity to make the most out of meeting other delegates. Please do this before arriving at the Summit.
SUMMIT ACTIVITIES SELECTED?
The EOS 2016 is offering all delegates a range of exciting activities designed to let them experience Barcelona’s local outdoor pursuits in their free time around the main Summit programme. The activities on offer are suited to varying abilities and tastes.
- Paddle boarding: Free of charge to delegates but SPACES ARE LIMITED with each session having a capacity of 25 people.
- Climbat Climbing Centre: Europe’s largest climbing wall, Climbat is offered as a self-service activity for delegates to do at their leisure and organisers have negotiated a special discounted rate of just 3€ per delegate – the voucher is in the Summit programme (please contact us should you need a voucher emailing before the Summit.)
- Self-service runs: With three routes of varying length are on offer: 9.6km, 6.8km and 3.2km, these can be done at any time and start from the Crowne Plaza Hotel; handy pocket-sized maps with directions are available in the hotel reception.
JOURNEY PLANNED?
Barcelona is an easy to reach destination with frequent flights in and out of the city airport, plus regular trains services. Here are some easy ways to get to the Summit if you are:
TRAVELLING BY PLANE – Barcelona El Prat Airport to Crowne Plaza Hotel:
- Aerobus – one-way – 5.90€ – return 10.20€ (25 minutes). Can be booked online at www.aerobusbcn.com
- Taxi – one-way – 25-30€ (25 minutes)
- Car -12 km. Car parking is available at the hotel for 18€ per day. The car park is directly under the hotel with direct access to the hotel lobby and accessible 24h.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN – Barcelona Sants Estació to Crowne Plaza Hotel:
- Taxi – one-way – 10.00€
- Walking (2.5km)
TRAVELLING BY METRO (UNDERGROUND): Arriving at Espanya stop for Crowne Plaza Hotel:
- Metro station: Espanya (L1 and L3), distance from hotel 0.1km.

HOTEL BOOKED?
The venue for this year’s EOS, the Crowne Plaza Hotel offers excellent meeting and conferencing facilities and is only 25 minutes from Barcelona’s International Airport and a short walk from the underground station Espanya, which allows quick and easy access to the attractions of Barcelona city centre and the famous Las Ramblas.
Booking accommodation at the Crowne Plaza via the EOS website has now closed and rooms will now need to be booked directly with the hotel
Please note complimentary WiFi will be available in the Crowne Plaza hotel common areas only (and in the bedrooms if you are a hotel resident). WiFi access within the conference rooms can be purchased from the hotel reception for 10€ per delegate per day.
