From June 19 to June 21, 2015 trail-runners from all over the world will gather at the foot of the Zugspitze in order to circle around Germany’s highest mountain and to enjoy the gorgeous trails and beautiful surroundings. At the fifth edition of the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL, the participants will start from all five towns of the so-called Zugspitz Arena: Besides Grainau (Ultratrail), Ehrwald (Supertrail XL), Leutasch (Supertrail) and Mittenwald (Basetrail XL) Garmisch-Partenkirchen will be part of it with a new course, the Basetrail, for the first time. Registration for this unique trail-run event will open at noon on December 12, 2014!

The end of the trail-run season 2014 is approaching quickly, planning for 2015 however is already in full swing. Not only the organizers from the event company PLAN B, but also those in the towns around the Zugspitze are anxiously looking forward to the new trail year. In these days, it is mainly the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL that the organizers and athletes are focusing on, because on Friday, December 12, 2014 exactly at noon, registration for Germany’s biggest trail-run event will open.

In a reflection of the fifth anniversary of the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL, the organizers have amended the program by a fifth course. Besides the already known four long distances Ultratrail, Supertrail XL, Supertrail and Basetrail XL, the new course with a length of 25,1 kilometers is targeted at those who probably want to catch a whiff of racing air for the first time or experienced street-runners who want to make a change to trail-running. Furthermore, with the new location Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the organizers managed to now include the whole area called Zugspitz Arena.

Apart from that, the program of the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL has been tried and tested and will therefore also see hardly any changes in 2015. The solemn opening with the official course briefing has traditionally been planned for Friday evening. Late at night that day, with the SILVA Trail Night, the trail weekend will then also be opened from a sportive point of view. On Saturday, from 7:15 a.m. on, the starts of the individual distances in the five towns will follow, while in the finish area everything is yet being prepared for the arrival of the fastest runners on the shorter routes.

Already early in the afternoon, the first participants will cross the finish line in Grainau. Sunday will then focus on the finishers of the ultra-distance who will arrive exhausted but overjoyed until late in the morning. The closing of the SA-LOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL will be very traditional again – with the big award ceremony and the greatest pictures of the weekend at the music pavilion in Grainau.

Generally, everybody with experience in high alpine terrain and good coordinative skills and – what is essential – everyone who went through a good preparation program, can take part in the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL. Anyway, the facts of the course speak for themselves:
