Not long to go yet! Engines are being revved up for this long-awaited 2017 Orobie Ultra-Trail® – “The first ever run to start in the heart of the Alps and end in the Medieval town of Bergamo Alta” takes place from July 28 to July 30 2017. Only three years since the first race, this competition has gained a podium position among the most interesting “Ultra Trails” worldwide. It is not by chance that there are 1,200+ currently registered entrants from as many as 32 different countries. In particular, 190 entrants have registered for the Orobie Ultra-Trail®, 810 for the Gran Trail Orobie and 295 for the Bergamo Urban-Trail.

The secret behind the success of 2017 Orobie Ultra-Trail® lies in the event’s very “DNA”: the trail’s extra-ordinary setting stretches over tens of kilometres in the very heart of the Orobie mountain range; athletes will be racing along enchanting trails and paths in an ever-changing scenery of rocky outcrops, verdant pastures and woodlands set among picture-postcard views; and, right at the end – the best having been saved for last – an awe-inspiringly-located finish line in Bergamo Alta’s Piazza Vecchia. And finally, the fact that Bergamo – also known as the City of the 1000 from the number of townsmen who fought to unify Italy in Giuseppe Garibaldi’s army of 1000 men – offers excellent flight connections to the “world” via a conveniently-positioned airport.
As nothing happens by chance, a finely-tuned team of people has worked hard since the first edition and behind the scenes of Orobie Ultra-Trail® to ensure the best possible sportsmanship and safety to the great number of runners throughout the competition. The overall organisation of the Event lies with Associazione Sportiva “Asso Orobica”, partnering with Bergamo-based “SpiaGames Outdoor Agency”.

Institutional Bodies that have chosen to stand by Orobie Ultra-Trail® are Regione Lombardia, BIM, the Municipalities of Bergamo, Clusone and Selvino and CAI. With over 154 local businesses and bodies approached since last December, outstanding contributions have been made by such sponsors and partners as: IVS Italia, Lovato Electric S.p.A, ElleErre, Scame, Montello Spa, Necta – N&W Global Vending S.p.A, Bracca, Pineta Acque minerali, Elav, Arrigoni, ATB, Kratos, Manzoni&Manzoni and Peraria.Spa, Necta – N&W Global Vending S.p.A, Bracca e
