AVABAG SELECTED AS PRODUCT OF THE YEAR – A TOTAL OF FOUR AWARDS FOR ORTOVOX: The courage to try something new and go our own way has paid off again this year. The safety experts from Taufkirchen won no fewer than four ISPO awards in the ski category. The PRODUCT OF THE YEAR award for our avalanche airbag system was a particular highlight. Weighing only 640 grams and with a volume of only 1.8 liters, the AVABAG system is the lightest and smallest airbag system in the world. The 2L ANDERMATT JACKET from the SWISSWOOL BLACK line can celebrate, too. This freeriding jacket, filled with black Swiss wool, was awarded GOLD – as was the PEAK alpine tour backpack. What makes this backpack so special is the back system made from Swiss wool, which can absorb almost 30 times more moisture than conventional back systems. The WINNER in the ski category is the PORDOI freetouring jacket, which serves the requirements of both ski tourers and freeriders. The PORDOI JACKET is extremely breathable and, thanks to a new Schoeller membrane, protects against wind and wet.
PEAK – FITTED WITH THE FIRST SWISSWOOL BACK SYSTEM
The PEAK stands for fully-equipped ALPINE TOUR BACKPACKS. The SWISSWOOL back system is unique. Using a highly complicated process we have managed to produce the backs from pressed Swiss wool. In exactly the same way as with the clothing, you benefit from the wool’s perfect moisture and microclimate management, and it therefore feels comfortable and dry on your back. The wide, padded shoulder and hip straps distribute the weight of the load evenly between the shoulders and hips. The circumferential front zipper grants you direct access to the main compartment – the separate safety compartment provides access to emergency equipment in one easy movement. In order to ensure that the backpacks in the PEAK series are ready for you to use on the mountain, we have produced them using Nylon 420D Manstar, our most resistant material – extremely tear and abrasion resistant and therefore long-lasting.
PORDOI JACKET – SKITOUR MEETS FREERIDE
Made for powder slopes that want to be conquered after a hard ascent! For the premium softshell, ORTOVOX uses only the best performance materials. Inside is the FINEST MERINO WOOL to form a foundation in comfort, before the new C_CHANGE TM MEMBRANE by Schoeller comes into play. It is an active membrane that reacts immediately to the build-up of sweat with special damp and temperature management. When it’s cold, it closes itself – as soon as the body becomes too hot, it opens the pores in order to regulate the temperature and sweat production. The shell made from polyamide and elastane keeps the outside world outside. This ensemble of fibers impresses with its ELASTICITY and ROBUSTNESS, and keeps damp and wind outside. The ORTOVOX wool DNA carries the Loden material, which is partially-inserted and underlain with membrane, on the outside.
