The use of highly functional products and in-depth alpine training to reduce risks has been inherent to ORTOVOX since the company was founded in 1980. That’s why ORTOVOX is proud to expand its existing partnership with the Verband Deutscher Berg- und Skiführer e.V. (VDBS – German mountain and ski guide association) from emergency equipment into the entire clothing sector.
Since 2013, ORTOVOX has worked closely with the VDBS – work characterized by friendship, trust and alpine origins.
The Verband Deutscher Berg- und Skiführer e.V. was founded in 1969 to represent the interests of German mountain and ski guides. Today, the VDBS comprises around 650 mountain guides (approx. 400 of them active) and has become an important authority in mountain sport. The mountain guides are out and about on the snow, ice and rocks all year long – with a focus on observing the highest safety standards. The VDBS is part of the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) and trains around 70 candidates a year.
Since July 1, 2017, ORTOVOX has been the official outfitter for the training team. But the expanded partnership extends to more than just the product range. In fact, ORTOVOX also cooperates closely with the VDBS on safety training Together with the mountain guides, ORTOVOX aims to ensure increased safety in mountain sports. The central element of this is in-depth training and expertise.
SAFETY ACADEMY GUIDE BOOK ROCK. The first outcome of the expanded collaboration was the publishing of the SAFETY ACADEMY GUIDE BOOK ROCK training handbook – for all alpine climbers for whom in-depth knowledge is important. The handbook was developed in cooperation with Chris Semmel, mountain guide and trainer for the VDBS, and will be available free of charge in specialist stores from April 2018. It outlines basic knowledge and provides an initial insight into alpine climbing.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. For the second major stage of our partnership, ORTOVOX is delighted to work with the VDBS in the field of product development: Products in the new Summer 2018 collection that we have developed and tested together and were worn by the training team bear the VDBS logo.
