Everyone is welcome at the trade show’s jubilee edition. OutDoor 2018 is more than just a platform for the international outdoor industry. Top athletes and outdoor sports enthusiasts will also be making their way to the trade fair at Lake Constance. The leading European trade fair takes place for the 25th time from 17 to 20 June on the showgrounds at Friedrichshafen. With the German Bouldering Championships, Midsummer-Festival and great events on the lakeshore on the 16 and 17 June, all outdoor fans will be able enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. End consumers will have access to the separate competition arena which offers brands direct contact to the public and an additional presentation area.
OutDoor 2018 is pulling out all the stops. From Saturday 16 to Sunday 17, June 2018, Germany’s elite boulders will be performing in the competition arena in exhibition hall B5. The German Bouldering Championships is organised by the German Alpine Association (DAV). “As Europe’s number one trade fair, OutDoor in Friedrichshafen is the perfect setting to hold this premier bouldering event. We are looking forward to an exciting showdown,” explains Klaus Wellmann, CEO Messe Friedrichshafen. And naturally, an enthusiastic audience is required to ensure a great competition. Spectator stands overlooking the 42-metre long competition bouldering wall offer ringside seats for the qualifications, semi-finals and finals. The event opens on Saturday, from 09:00 and on the Sunday from 09:30. Opening up hall B5 the day before the OutDoor starts and for the first day of the show will bring climbers, climbing fans, end consumers and trade visitors together for this exciting bouldering competition. In addition, there is a supporting programme for all visitors, including opportunities to try out bouldering. A live webcast will enable spectators to follow the event online.
Away from the show grounds, there is also a further programme of events. The OutDoor Midsummer Festival premieres in the city centre on the Saturday and Sunday set against the magnificent backdrop of Lake Constance and the mountains. On the longest day in the year, in true Swedish style, the outdoor spirit will be in full flow at a central lakeshore location. From late afternoon onwards, there will be a diverse range of outdoor activities on offer at the Friedrichshafen promenade, including slacklining, Stand Up Paddling and a climbing island. Live DJ music will ensure a chill-out summer atmosphere. Not far away, the OutDoor Movie Nights is running two fantastic evenings in a relaxed summer setting. On Saturday night at 19:30 at the “Musikmuschel” in central Friedrichshafen, there is the European Outdoor Film Tour 17/18. And on Sunday, the fifth International Ocean Film Tour is showing. Both events are free of charge, open to all and, of course, open air. “For our jubilee edition, we want to share our fascination with outdoor sports both on the show grounds and in Friedrichshafen city centre. True to the motto, “OutDoor for all”, we are offering opportunities to address end consumers in a unique setting at Lake Constance,” explains Stefan Reisinger, Head of OutDoor and Eurobike trade shows.
In addition to classic outdoor activities, OutDoor 2018 will continue to focus on new themes, such as Hangout, Lifestyle Collection, Water Sports and Running and selectively connect with consumers, for example through microadventures. As the name suggests, microadventures are all about spontaneous, fun mini adventures in nature that fit in with everyday life. Adventures don’t have to be extreme or involve distant destinations – they can also take place on your doorstep. Simply pack your outdoor gear and head off to sleep out with friends under the stars after work. Enjoy the experience of outdoor cooking and exploring the natural world around you. For the OutDoor jubilee edition, a special microadventure is on offer to end consumers for the first time. A group will be exploring the surrounding Lake Constance area, sleeping outdoors and enjoying a new adventure together.
Since 1994, OutDoor has been bringing together leading international players and media representatives in the outdoor industry to present the latest product innovations and sector trends. With its close proximity to Lake Constance and the Alps, it offers the ideal working climate and a productive environment to conduct business. Last year’s trade show brought 965 exhibitors, 21,412 visitors and 1,019 media representatives to Friedrichshafen.
The 25th OutDoor jubilee edition show takes place from Sunday 17 to Wednesday 20 June 2018, in Friedrichshafen and is only open to trade visitors (with the exception of the German Bouldering Championships on 16/17 June in Hall B5).
