Polartec®, the American manufacturer of technical fabrics, is pursuing its strategy in cycling in partnership with the foundation of the Spanish champion, Alberto Contador. Having been a co-sponsor of the Contador Foundation team (U23 and junior) for one season, Polartec is committing itself until 2018 and is becoming the main sponsor of the “Polartec Contador Foundation” team, which will be officially presented by Alberto Contador on Monday, February 13th, 2017, in Madrid.
As a major player in the outdoor industry for the last 35 years, Polartec® embarked on a development strategy in the cycling clothing and accessories market 4 years ago. Polartec, the technical textile manufacturer, quickly attracted major cycling brands such as Rapha, Castelli, Sportfull, rh+, Giro, and others, who have chosen to design and market clothing using the technical fabrics of Polartec®, renowned for their high quality breathability, comfort and protection against the elements.
Gary Smith, CEO of Polartec®, says: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Alberto Contador and the cycling team he founded, managed by his brother, Francisco. Polartec® and the Contador Foundation share the same values of performance, innovation and about the future of cycling. For us, this team is a showcase, but also a laboratory for testing and validating our latest textile innovations. High-level competition is the best test bench for performance. In 2017, 100% of the garments in the Polartec® Contador Foundation team’s kit was made using our technical fabrics. For races under extreme heat, but also colder and rainy races, our technical fabrics are designed to protect and support riders’ performance. Our goal is to become the textile leader in cycling.”
On Monday, February 13th, 2017, in Madrid, Alberto and Francisco Contador will unveil the new “Polartec Contador Foundation” jersey and the goals for 2017, upon the official presentation of the team and its riders.
