Polartec®, a leader in the production of innovative fabric solutions, is pleased to announce that for another year they will be among the title sponsors of the 19th edition Tour du Rutor Extreme 2018.

This event takes place every two years and will see compete, on the slopes of Valgrisenche, 700 competitors from 18 different countries – all ready to take on the 7000m of height gain over 75km of off-piste ski mountaineering (40km of ascent, 32km of descent, 5km of ridges).

Among this year’s competitors are athletes from China and overseas, 30 youth teams, major champions and alpine ski enthusiasts. The competition will bring together a group of true alpine ski mountaineers, scrupulously selected, for an “Extreme” race, by name and by nature.

®In the words of Kilian: “La Grande Course and the TDR are always seasonal objectives of mine. I’m happy to be returning to Arvier to run the Aostan race. The Tour du Rutor is a real Alpine ski mountaineering classic, technical like I enjoy. This year I will be ready to go alongside Jakob Herrmann, with whom I won the Altitoy and ran the Pierra Menta. We get on really well together. He’s determined on the ascent and very fast on the descent and I believe we can do well”.

Amongst the more notable names, Kilian Jornet is definitely one that stands out. King of outdoor mountain sports and fresh from winning the Altitoy Ternua, he will be at the starting line beside the Austrian, Jakob Herrmann.
