The result of a multi-year collaboration between designer and athlete, the new Shashka Pant fulfills the needs of the committed female skier. Dedicated skiers and athletes contributed their feedback into the developments of this flattering and comfortable, fully-featured ski pant – the ultimate partner for high performance women.
The Shashka Pant was first conceived on a trip to Chile in 2014 where Christina ‘Lusti’ Lustenberger, Arc’teryx athlete and ACMG Ski Guide, took a trip with Arc’teryx Lead Whiteline Designer Sarah Wallace. Lusti challenged the design of women’s ski touring bibs. Their conversation continued via email, drawings, office visits and testing it out in wild places. The goal was to create a pant that was both functional and flattering.
“We experimented with countless prototypes, more than any other style I’ve worked with at Arc’teryx,” said Wallace. “We tried every fabric and material combination we could think of in search of a fabric that would improve mobility and maximize comfort.”
GORE-TEX® C-Knit™ backer performed the best, delivering unprecedented freedom and glide paired with durability and weather protection.
“It’s like a weight was lifted when we put them on. It almost feels like you aren’t wearing pants. I would sell my soul for these pants,” said Izzy Lynch, another Arc’teryx athlete.
A low rise soft shell upper is both flattering and functional, improving mobility and breathability, while maintaining the weather and snow protection that only bibs can offer. Improved cuff system accommodates touring boots with an opening for power straps and reinforced lining to protect pant leg from abrasion. ‘Barn door’ style side vents allow quick heat dumping and easy access. Like all women’s Arc’teryx products, the new Shashka Pant facilitates better performance so the skier can focus on the mountains.
