A tribute to the first ascent of the Broad Peak, which was achieved on 9 June 1957 by the Austrian expedition made up of Marcus Schmuck, Fritz Wintersteller, Kurt Diemberger and Hermann Buhl. The mountaineers did not use oxygen or high-altitude porters. Found on the border between China and Pakistan in the Karakorum chain, the Broad Peak is the world’s twelfth-highest mountain.
