Dear VAUDE friends,
Christmas is right around the corner, the year is drawing to a close and it is a time of reflection. But what is there for us to reflect upon today – amid all the humanitarian crises and uncertainties of the world?
This year Germany has been dealing with a wave of refugees. It has not only brought us a great many people, but it has also provided us with very concrete, close-up views into the impact of global conflicts. This has very clearly revealed that we should not – indeed, cannot – turn a blind eye to current affairs. We all live in one and the same world and globalization means that – as a people who want to live in peace – we need to draw more closely together.
We at VAUDE are aware of this global responsibility. We want to take a stand and reflect upon how we can actively contribute to preserving quality of life in the world today. This is why we, together with our employees and a local refugee aid organization, have gladly and energetically launched a sewing workshop with refugees. We’re turning residual materials into new bags and refugees into new-found friends. Two workshop participants have now become employees at our production facility here in Germany.
We not only want to be active here locally in Germany – but also where the help is needed most, which is why we are donating 1 € for your click to Save the Children – an organization that transforms children’s lives. At the same time, we strongly invite you to join us in becoming active and to share your ideas with us.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2017!
