The 14th event, August 28th – September 3rd 2017, registration is beginning, and it launches the start of a new adventure!
The UTMB® is the unmissable rendezvous for trail-runners world-wide. Each year, the elite of the trail-running world find themselves in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, alongside the almost 8 000 enthusiastic runners, to participate in one of the event’s 5 races.
Tackling the Mont-Blanc circuit by running around it, is above all a human adventure and an unique experience where each participant will have to draw from their strengths and push their mental and physical capacity to the limit to cross the finishing line. This extraordinary journey in the heart of the massif is a trip to the heart of the valleys and passes in contact with the most beautiful summits, in an alpine decor, unique in the world.
Participating in, or assisting with the UTMB®, is to vibrate to the rhythm of the trail-running planet and share in an extraordinary festival at the heart of a mobilised territory. The organisation is supported by 2 000 volunteers from 15 different countries, 19 French, Italian and Swiss communes within the Mont-Blanc country and surrounded by more than 40 partners working throughout the year for the success of the event. The thousands of supporters, coming to support their loved ones, and more than 50 00 spectators meet around Mont-Blanc to share a week’s worth of days and nights full of emotions and human stories. That is without accounting for the hundreds of thousands who follow the event from a distance on UTMB®TV or via social networks…
For those who have ticked the UTMB® on the 2017 race calendar, the registration period marks the start of a new adventure which will take shape in the course of the weeks and months which follow!

Priority registration:
Runners who have been refused twice due to unlucky draws in 2015 and 2016 for the same race, and who did not transfer their registration to the TDS ®, benefit from an individual priority registration for the same race.
Runners unlucky in the 2016 draw benefit from an individual coefficient of 2. This advantage doubles their chance of being successful in the draw for 2017 (on the condition that they select the same race as in 2016 and that they have the necessary points for 2017).
The international elite:
The organisation reserves places for elite runners, who make the request, according to precise criteria and based on their ITRA performance index. These runners must however register with the required number of points according to their chosen race.

The draw
Numbers pre-registered for races, as has regularly been the case, are higher than the maximum number of runners possible, so a draw is held. The results will be posted on January 12th 2017 at 10:00 a.m. (Paris time) in the list of those registered and on the runner’s page at www.utmbmontblanc.com, and will be confirmed by email.

Those people who have not finalised their registration by January 25th 2017 at the latest will lose out.
Negative draw result
– Runners participating in the draw for the first time. Those with a negative draw result will have the 50 euro deposit paid at pre-registration reimbursed. The following year they will benefit from a coefficient of 2 doubling their chance of success, on condition that they chose the same race and that they have the points required for 2018.
– Runners with a coefficient of 2 (= negative results in the 2016 draw)
In the case of a second failure in 2017, they will have priority registration for 2018 (without passing via the draw) for the same race as in 2017 and 2016, on the condition that they have the points necessary for 2018.
The attribution of these advantages (coefficient of 2 or priority) is made after the qualification races declared by the runner have been validated.
160 race-bibs reserved for solidarity, health or the environment
For the runner there is the possibility of registering for one of the races without encountering the draw (while respecting the current regulations). The runner can be supported by the business/es of their choice so as to raise the sum.
150 Solidarity race-bibs

5 Environmental race-bibs
To protect the environmental heritage which gives the UTMB such a formidable play-ground, and for the Trailers du Mont-Blanc association’s environment commission so that they can carry out concrete actions, 5 environmental race-bibs have been made available as of this year.
